Vasudaiva Kutumbakam or Ahimsa doesn't mean we put up with everybody's nonsense

 François Gautier, a French-origin journalist/author and a long-time resident of Auroville tweeted to the Prime Minister, Home Minister, and Education Minister yesterday that the Secretary Dr. Jayanti Ravi of Auroville Foundation has made the conflict [between pro-City and anti-City residents] "a battle between Indians (many of them coming from Sri Aurobindo ashram) and westerners. This goes against Narendra Modi's slogan of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam made for the G20 Summit". He wrote: "It has degenerated to such a degree that I who stood against all for the @BJP4India & defended Bharat against all odds, for 40 years, is told by some of Dr Ravi's followers: "go home Frenchman". It hurts !" He has attached a "sad video of 50 years trees being cut on her orders".

Dr. Jayanti Ravi is the only Secretary, who with prior intimation, attended a meeting of residents called by foreigner-dominated Res. Assly. They didn't allow her to speak. She is also the only Secretary who declared that she would meet every Auroville resident at his place of work or living. She then invited the residents in batches for meetings with her every week and many attended those meetings and I too attended one. I found her absolutely courteous while talking and listening to foreign residents. The only instance of her talking of Indians and foreigners - among the numerous public speeches of hers recorded and published - was when she asked in a meeting of residents with Visas to respect Indian law and reminded them that Indians cannot disrespect laws in foreign countries. That was a perfectly legitimate observation by her as an Officer of the Govt. of India. She then visited and spoke at most communities in Auroville where foreigners also live, in the short span of the past year and a half.

In the Auroville master plan, there are just 2 ring roads and 12 radial roads totally taking less than 2% of the city area. To lay water/sewage/and cables trees next to the Crown Road have been cut by the Town Development Council in recent days after the Supreme Court lifted a major part of the stay imposed on carrying out developments in Auroville by the NGT for the past 2 years. A statement from the section of residents opposed to the Foundation's Initiatives to build the city, made on 8th January 2024, shows they have realised it is futile to protest the Supreme Court's lifting of the stay imposed by the NGT that has enabled the Foundation to cut the trees wherever indispensable to build the city according to its Master Plan: "Indeed, the NGT ruling had been preventing this from happening since April 2022, and this consequence was to be expected since the ruling was stayed in December 2023".

It is claimed that 1 million trees were planted over the past decades in Auroville, to prevent soil erosion, they have naturally doubled to 2 million trees. The foreigner-led extreme environmentalists in Auroville fiercely protested whenever any of the trees were sought to be removed for city development. François Gautier's idea of Vasudaiva kutumbakam is individual housing with gardens amid forests for him and like-minded in tens of thousands in an urban sprawl 4 times bigger than Auroville's approved Plan that he calls "Vaster Plan"!
